The Madeleine Appartement by Heju Studio
This new project by Hélène Pinaud and Julien Schwartzmann – aka Heju Studio – gives us another glimpse of the work of one of our favourite interior design duos.
Heju have designed this Paris apartment in their trademark modernist, organic style. They have mixed wood with soft natural colours to bring a feeling of warmth to the space.
The accent has been placed on craftsmanship, with handmade ceramic bas-reliefs and materials such as alabaster and walnut featured throughout.
In the kitchen, the Sammode G25 wall lamp designed by Pierre Guariche contrasts with the pink wall.
The brass Calyx pendants by Atelier Areti, positioned above the worktop, bring a touch of lightness to the space.
Its curved lines echo the curves on the made to measure kitchen cabinets.
The Balancing Variation pendant by Atelier Areti is installed above a table that Hélène and Julien designed especially for this project.
A slick storage wall contrasts with the organically shaped passage, leading to the dining room.
The Alba wall light is handmade by Contain in their workshop in Mallorca. The alabaster is sourced locally in a quarry in Spain.
Heju have preserved the apartment’s traditional fixtures, such as the parquet floor and the ceiling moldings, characteristic of Parisian apartments. The walnut bookcase has been built to blend in with these elements; at the same time providing a contemporary touch.
The bedrooms have a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The handmade ceramic Terre table lamp by Grès Ceramics perfectly compliments the Androgyne side table by Menu.
In the master bedroom, the pale pink waxed concrete floor and the pale wood give a restful feel. A bas-relief forms the headboard and pendant lights by Contain are hung on either side of the bed, freeing up space and removing the need for bedside tables.
The bathroom features a custom-made double sink unit in terrazzo.
The office is separated by large frosted glass panels that let daylight flood in.
