THE BENCH by Cose in Corso
The Bench, Cose in Corso
The pure minimalism of The Bench resonates with the history of Belgian beguinages established in the 13th century, where pious yet independent women lived outside conventions. Its design is inspired by wooden benches used in Christian churches.
The smooth angles are hand-cut from steel, and the raw material is blackened to create a painterly texture. The fluid assembly of these thin metal plates gives the piece a striking lightness.
Imposing yet discreet, The Bench becomes a sacred object of daily life, grounded in the present while infused with timeless poetry.
Cose in Corso's first collection, Les Âmes Simples, "Simple Souls" in French, stems from co-founders Marzia Cerio and Marwann Frikach's fascination with this way of life, which raises social and political questions for our time. Through simplicity and a direct connection with the artisan, they aim to design objects with a soul that transcend mere utility. Each collection draws inspiration from history, archaeology, and geography, aspiring to translate the essence of a region into tangible forms.
