HALFMOON CANDLEHOLDER by Irene Maria Ganser
Halfmoon Candleholder, Irene Maria Ganser.
The bronze Halfmoon candleholder is a testimony to the Artist's deep love of nature and the sea: the beauty of a seashell on the beach, before time and tide start chipping away at its surface. The piece is named after Half Moon Caye, an island located at the southeast corner of Lighthouse Reef Atoll, where the Irene Maria Ganser found the original shell.
The designs of Irene Maria Ganser are not just there to be admired, they are also to be touched. It is surprising how smooth and warm the solid metal surfaces of her pieces designs feel. The secret lies in the craftsmanship and high quality standards. Each piece comes with its unique differences. At each time of day they look different. They may appear soft in the evening light and show their strong contrasts at midday.
Living and working in Vienna, where all her pieces are created, Irene Maria Ganser finds inspiration in the local tradition of art foundry craftsmanship. Ganser successfully echoes the ubiquitous Jugendstil – brass, bronze, patina and craftsmanship. Her work is regularly shown at international design fairs, exhibitions as well as in the architectural press.
Made in very limited series, the artist's pieces are destined to become collectors' items.
