THE TRUTH MIRROR by Cose in Corso
The Truth Mirror, Cose in Corso.
The Truth mirror is a dialogue between past and present, inspired by the beauty and architectural power of the city of Rome. With the Fragma collection, Cose in Corso transcribes these lines into everyday objects.
This piece evokes a fragment of an ancient epigraph, capturing the essence of the past in a contemporary object. Crafted from stainless steel, each piece is hand-polished to reveal a surface as reflective as a traditional mirror. Its irregular, broken edges reveal the word "truth," as if part of an ancient inscription now partially exposed. This raw, unfinished form endows the piece with a unique sculptural beauty.
The inscription references John Keats' Ode on a Grecian Urn: "Beauty is truth, truth beauty,-that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."
The light that illuminates Rome's ancient monuments and ruins shifts with the seasons. Cose in Corso’s third collection, Fragma, is inspired by a winter walk through the cold Eternal City. The designers aim to reintroduce poetry into the creative process. Each collection draws inspiration from history, archaeology, and geography, aiming to translate the essence of a region into physical form.
