THE MIRROR OF SIMPLE SOULS by Cose in Corso
The Mirror of Simple Souls, Cose in Corso.
The raw minimalism of the Mirror of Simple Souls echoes the history of 13th-century Belgian beguinages, where devout yet free and autonomous women lived beyond convention. Its design draws inspiration from medieval stoups, often found at church entrances or by the beds of the Béguines.
The hand-brushed stainless steel plate creates a soft, ethereal mirrored surface. The rough-textured iron half-sphere can serve as a small container or be left empty, becoming a vessel for reflection.
Both striking and subtle, the Mirror of Simple Souls transforms into a sacred object of daily life.
Cose in Corso's first collection, Les Âmes Simples - "Simple Souls" in French - was born from Marzia Cerio and Marwann Frikach’s fascination with this way of life, raising questions that remain socially and politically relevant today. Through simplicity and a direct connection with the artisan, they aim to design objects with a soul that transcend mere utility. Each collection draws inspiration from history, archaeology, and geography, aiming to translate the essence of a region into physical form.
