TRANSIENCE SQUARE MIRROR by Lex Pott & David Derksen
Transience Square Mirror, design Lex Pott and David Derksen.
The Transience collection of mirrors use the process of oxidation to create colour and texture. Usually oxidation is something that will occur over the years, as the silver layer of the mirror reacts with oxygen and water. Here the designers have accelerated the process by applying sulphur, which has been left for different amounts of time, creating layers of colour from golds and browns to purples and blues. The longer the sulphur is left, the more intense the colour...
Each mirror is handmade and the oxidation patterns are slightly different on each piece.
