The Plat suspension, handmade in Spain, is a spherical piece composed of a blown glass disk hovering above a globe. It is the result of a collaboration between the design studio Contain and Gordiola, a local glassworks that has mastered the technique of blown glass for over three centuries.
Mauricio Obarrio and Juan Peralta, founders of the lighting and furniture design studio Contain, are fascinated by craftsmanship and the interaction between the artisan and the designer. Contain collections are made from natural materials - brass, opal glass, blown glass - locally sourced whenever possible, which are combined with new technologies, particularly 3D printing using PLA (polylactic acid), an aliphatic polyester thermoplastic derived from renewable resources.
Materials: Brass structure, opal glass, and blown glass from local production.
Dimensions: Available in two different diameters, 41 cm or 46 cm (the glass being hand-blown, diameter dimensions may vary from one to two centimeters).
Bulb : E27 (included) 5W 2700K dimmable. The Plat suspension is dimmable and DALI compatible.
Other finishes are available upon request.
Each piece is handmade and made to order in Spain. Small irregularities in shapes may occur, as they are inherent in the handmade manufacturing process and should not be considered as defects.
