OVAL LANTERN by Taiwan-Lantern

Oval Lantern, Taiwan-Lantern. 

Taiwan Lantern work with Taiwan's last traditional lantern factory. Each lantern is made by hand by skilled artisans. A single lantern involves 190 different processes and takes five to six weeks - from harvesting the bamboo to create the spokes to dyeing the fabrics by hand.

The Oval Lantern is available in three different colours inspired by nature. Brown symbolises Tu (the earth), white Jin (metal) and black Shui (water). The dyes are all plant based. The lanterns are finished with a layer of Tung oil, made from the seeds of the Tung tree, which has been used for centuries to give traditional lanterns a smooth satin finish and to protect them from water.

The lanterns frames are made in walnut and bamboo. Each lantern features special detailing : brass, leather for the brown, fringes for the white.

The Oval Lantern would look beautiful hung low over a bedside table, or in multiples in a corridor...

Bulb specification : E27, 40W (not included). A porcelain ceiling rose and 2 meters of fabric cable are included.
