Axel Chay creates sculptural pieces with a presence. His work is inspired by his surroundings - the French Mediterranean with its sunshine and saturated colours.
Originally from the Côte Bleue, a stone's throw from Marseille, Chay studied at business schools in Lyon and in London, before returning to settle in the south of France in 2013, where he set up his design studio Nova Obiecta, together with Marouane Sadki.
Axel Chay now works alone. He cites, amongst his influences, the work of Donald Judd, Julio Le Parc and Tom Wesselmann; kinetic art and the Memphis movement.
Chay's innovative, vibrant pieces are made in a wide range of materials: steel, aluminum, cork, wood, expanded foam or plaster...
Each piece is made in France.
