DCW Editions makes lighting and furniture : timeless pieces perfectly suitable for everyday living. Each piece is well conceived, well designed and well made. Part of the collection was designed by well known twentieth century designers, however nostalgia for the past is not what drives DCW Editions. Their aim is to make pieces that are resolutely true, honest, and that will stand the test of time.
The founders of DCW Editions, Philippe Cazer and Frédéric Winkler, begun by producing the work of the inventor Bernard-Albin Gras, notably the Gras lamp - one of the starting points for modern lighting, and also the 20th century’s first articulated lamp, much lauded at the time by Le Corbusier.
2013 saw DCW bring out Bernard Schottlander’s Mantis lamps : his « Mobile-Sculptures » created in 1951 in homage to Alexander Calder.
The years to come saw the beginning of exciting new collaborations with contemporary designers : Dominique Perrault and Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost, with the In The Tube collection ; Ilia Potemine with the ISP lamp ; the In The Sun collection... Then came the relaunch of the Biny collection designed by Jacques Biny.
The different collections – Gras, Mantis, In The Tube, the ISP Lamp, Here Comes the Sun, Les Acrobates de Gras... – are in permanent dialogue with each other, testament to DCW Editions’ commitment to producing timeless objects that never give way to fashion.
